GES
GES (Genetic Evaluation Sires) is responsible for the publication of
breeding values for production, conformation, sustainability and health traits.
GES is recognised by the Product Boards for Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE)
Coordinator
GES is coordinated by Wageningen UR, and Roel Veerkamp is assigned to this duty. The role of
coordinator includes representation and maintaining external contacts with owners of sires,
research institutions, organizations and farmers.
President
Geart Benedictus is independent chairman of GES. He was a veterinarian and director of the
Animal Health Service of Northern Netherlands and has occupied various positions in agricultural
organizations.
Board of GES
The board of GES consists of representatives of all parties that are involved. The
semen importers are represented in the board as Association of
Semen Importers (VSI).
The Board members are:

- Representative of CRV
- Representative of KI Kampen
- Representative of VRV vzw
- Representative of VSI
Participants
All EU certified AI organizations can participate in GES, just as importers of semen, Alta,
KI Kampen, CRV and VRV vzw.
Technical Committee
The technical committee is composed of representatives of the participants. The purpose of the technical
committee is to give advice the board and to monitor the technical quality of the genetic
breeding value estimation. Johan van Arendonk (Wageningen-UR) is the chairman.
